The quiet community of Madyangove has been rocked by the tragic death of Christopher Tsuro (59), who was allegedly murdered by his girlfriend, Jenipher Gandiwa, following a misunderstanding over a payment for sex. The shocking incident occurred during the night on Wednesday. According to police reports, Tsuro had reportedly paid Gandiwa $3 in exchange for sex that was supposed to be for the whole night vigil (pungwe). However, Gandiwa later denied him the agreed encounter. An argument ensued, escalating into a physical altercation. In the heat of the dispute, Gandiwa allegedly pushed Tsuro forcibly, causing him to fall. He died from the injuries sustained in the fall.
Tsuro’s body has since been taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem.
Masvingo Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, confirmed the incident, adding that Gandiwa had been arrested and was facing murder charges. “We urge members of the public to resolve conflicts amicably and avoid resorting to violence, as this often leads to unnecessary loss of life,” Inspector Dhewa said.
The death of Tsuro has left the Madyangove community in shock and mourning. As an elderly man, Tsuro was highly respected, and his sudden, violent death has sent ripples throughout the district. Community members have expressed their grief and disbelief over the tragedy.
Gandiwa is expected to appear in court soon to face charges in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, the police have reiterated their call for peaceful resolutions to disputes, especially in domestic situations, and warned against the consequences of taking the law into one`s hands.
