A man from Chivake village under Chief Serima in Gutu district, last week stoned his girlfriend to death before committing suicide in a case that has shocked the local community.
According to police, on 28 October, Rachel Mudzonzo (32) and Shepherd Dzivakwe whose age was not given, went to a local drinking spot which they found closed.On returning home, Dzivakwe accused the woman of infidelity. He then picked up a stone which he used to struck the woman thrice on the head, before running away.The woman was then taken to Gutu Mission before she was transferred to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where she later succumbed from her injuries on 30 October.The accused was later found hanging in his hut the following day.Provincial police spokesperson, Kudakwashe Dhewa told Hevoi FM News that people need to solve disputes amicably.
“We are urging people to solve disputes amicably rather than taking lives,”said Dhewa.
