Some pupils in Gutu district who are supposed to sit for public examinations are finding it difficult to secure national identification cards at the district administrator’s offices, Hevoi FM News can report.
Councillor for ward 34 in Gutu district, Wickliff Matindike says the registrar’s office in the area is only issuing a maximum of 20 national identity cards per day in the whole district thereby making it difficult for learners to secure the important documents.
“Pupils in the district travel long distances to the Registrar’s office only to be told that the number (20) needed for the day has been reached,”Matindike said.
‘There is need for the government to introduce the old system of issuing paper national identification cards and decentralizing centers issuing of identity cards to that the process can be expedited, “he said.
Of the whole district, only the registrar’s office in the district issue national documents.
