Football lovers in Masvingo have expressed mixed feelings over the recently announced Afcon fixtures to be played in Cameroon early next year in which the Warriors were drawn in group B where they will face Senegal, Guinea and Malawi in the group stages.
Measured by the recent Warriors performance in their last COSAFA encounter some local fans have expressed doubts if the national team was going to excel to the second round.
“This group which the Warriors were put in is difficult, measuring the performance of our players they need to pull their socks,” said one football fan on anonymity.
Another fan, Blessing Gora told Hevoi FM Sports News that he had doubts on the national team’s chances of progressing to the next round arguing that players needed proper preparations first.
“Looking at the teams we are going to face, for example Guinea and Malawi they are tricky opponents, what is needed of the team is to prepare for the games thoroughly,” said another supporter.
However, some who are optimistic of the national team said that players needed a collective effort and not to be afraid of big names like Senegal, adding that the Warriors were going to progress easily.
“The warriors need to act as an underdog team, playing collectively and not being afraid of big names like Senegal. They are going to reach the next round,” said an optimistic fan.
Also another fan Taurai Chiko concurred saying that paying players good remunerations was also a contributory factor to motivate players.
“Talking about the group we were put in, it is a good group, only what is needed is good remunerations that will motivate players,” said Chiko.
