Masvingo football fans have welcome Zimbabwe Football Association’s decision to relieve under fire Warriors coach, Zdravko Logarusic from his duties, saying the decision was long overdue.
The football fans said the Crotian coach should have been immediately fired soon after the COSAFA tourney where the Warriors failed to register a win and finished bottom on the log-the worst performance ever by the national team in the regional tourney.
“ZIFA should have fired Loga soon after the COSAFA tourney as he showed that he is an incompetent coach,”said Tinashe Mabaya, from Sisk suburb.
Other football fans in the city called the mother football body to find a good replacement.
“We are calling on ZIFA to find a suitable and competent coach such as the likes of Joey Antipas, Kallisto Pasuwa, Sunday Chidzambwa, Moses Chunga or Bruce Grobelaar.ZIFA must learn a lesson that local coaches are far much better than the foreigners who does not know the culture of our local football,”said Ndakaitei Charumbira of Runyararo West suburb.
Zifa in a statement to announce the departure of Logarušic, said an interim technical team would be announced soon.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) would like to inform the football fraternity and the nation at large that it has amicably parted ways with senior men’s team coach Zdravko Logarušic. The decision was arrived at upon consideration by the full executive committee of all the various relevant circumstances pertaining to the coach’s contract. The entire technical team has also been disbanded. The appointment of the interim technical team shall be announced in due course as the executive committee has already set in motion the process,” said Zifa yesterday evening.
