Community Working Group on Health chairperson for Masvingo District, Entrance Takaidza has urged authorities to open up mobile vaccination centres in high density areas of Masvingo as the council clinics are failing to cope with huge number of people.
“We are quite grateful that the vaccination programme in Masvingo is going on well,”said Takaidza.
She added:
“We are however urging government to open up mobile vaccination centres in residential areas of Mucheke, Runyararo West, Rujeko and Victoria Ranch suburbs so that residents can be vaccinated right in their areas of residence..Right now it is clear that the nursing staff at council clinics is being overwhelmed by huge number of people who turn out to be vaccinated.”
Director of Health and Environmental Services in Masvingo city council, Ngonidzashe Mapamula said council’s three clinics are each vaccinating 150 people per day.Masvingo provincial hospital is the other public health centre offering vaccination facilities in the city.
