Parents at Gokomere Mission are complaining over the poor ablution facilities and poor diet at the learning institution. Parents say pupils at Gokomere CPS are being forced to use the bucket system as the toilets at the hostels have no flushing system.
A representative of the parents, Taurai Marava is calling on the ministry of Health and Child Care to intervene before waterborne diseases occur.
“The health of our children especially at Gokomere CPS is at stake.Imagine a nine year old pupil being forced to use a bucket to flush in toilets.We are raising concern over poor diet at both High and Primary school.There is poor drainage system at ablution facilities, thereby compromising the health of our children.We are therefore calling on the ministry of Health and Child Care to intervene before it’s too late,”said Marava.An official from the health ministry who spoke on condition of anonymity told Hevoi FM News that investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, five Gokomere school officials including heads Acquanos Mazhunga (56), Mhangarai Masakadza (50),Cephas Vhurumuku (deputy head) Priest in charge Father James Magadzire (40)&Alex Mawaya(50) accused of theft of school funds have been given ZW$10000 bail by a Masvingo magistrate.They were remanded to October 28, 2021.
