The district Agritex officer for Chiredzi district, Taurai Bodi says some farmers in the district may face low yields due to persistent power cuts and challenges of water supplies.
“Small holder farmers in Chiredzi district are facing water challenges for irrigation due to electricity power cuts.However this year’s challenges are better in comparison with last year,”Bodi told Hevoi FM news.
Chiredzi district which provides a considerable chunk of winter wheat production in the province, has so far managed to plant more than 295 hectares of the crop.
The province has earmarked to plant over 2000 hectares of the crop and government has provided some farming inputs.
