Hevoi FM News & Current Affairs Editor Samuel Njinga has been crowned the winner in the Television Category at the 2026 Hippo Valley Estates Media Awards, adding another milestone to his growing list of achievements in Zimbabwe’s media industry.
The awards ceremony, held in Harare, recognised journalists whose work highlighted the impact of Hippo Valley Estates’ Tadzika Midzi initiative, which commemorated the company’s 70th anniversary through stories showcasing its contribution to community development, agriculture, environmental stewardship and sustainable livelihoods.
Njinga walked away with the top Television Category accolade after submitting a documentary that provided a compelling narrative of Hippo Valley Estates’ developmental journey under the Tadzika Midzi campaign. The documentary chronicled the company’s investment in communities, heritage preservation and socio-economic transformation, while capturing the voices of beneficiaries and key stakeholders.
The award marks Njinga’s sixth career accolade, cementing his reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s accomplished broadcast journalists.
Speaking during the awards ceremony, Hippo Valley Estates Corporate Head, Dahlia Garwe, commended journalists for their overwhelming participation and professionalism in producing stories that reflected the company’s impact on communities.
She said the quality of entries demonstrated the media’s commitment to highlighting developmental initiatives that contribute to national growth.
Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe Group Chief Executive Officer Tendai Masawi also applauded the media fraternity for its indispensable role in informing, educating and documenting corporate initiatives that transform lives.
Masawi said responsible journalism remains an important partner in promoting sustainable development by bringing stories of progress closer to the public.
Receiving the award, Njinga dedicated the honour to God and expressed gratitude to Hippo Valley Estates and everyone who supported his work.
“I give all the glory to God who is the engineer of everything that I do. I would also like to thank all the stakeholders as well as Hippo Valley Estates for such a meaningful recognition,” he said.
Njinga also described the award as an encouragement to continue producing impactful stories that inspire positive change and showcase organisations making meaningful contributions to communities.
The recognition adds to an impressive career that has seen him receive multiple honours for excellence in journalism.
