The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says preparations are at an advanced stage for the Ward 13 Bikita West Council By-Election.
ZEC Masvingo Provincial Elections Officer, Mr Maxwell Ncube, confirmed that the By-Election will be held on 31 January, with two political parties set to contest.
Mr Ncube said ZEC will roll out a voter education programme from 23 to 27 January to ensure voters are fully informed about the electoral process.
“Preparations are progressing well, and voter education teams will be deployed across the ward ahead of polling day,” he said.
The contest will see Obvious Madzvivanyika representing ZANU PF and Brilliant Mukaro of the Democratic Alliance of Zimbabwe vying for the vacant council seat.
The By-Election follows the death of ZANU PF councillor Elliot Chapinda, who passed away in November last year.
ZEC has urged eligible voters in Ward 13 Bikita West to participate peacefully and exercise their constitutional right to vote.
