The Business community at Chivi growth point has expressed concern following the 800 percent increase of tariff rates by Chivi Rural District Council.
The chairperson of Chivi Chamber of Commerce Association, Albert Chamwadoro told Hevoi FM News that most business people at the growth point are failing to make ends meet due to economic hardships, and will struggle to pay the council tariffs.
“We have appealed to the Chivi Rural District Council to reduce tariffs hike to 100 percent, but we have not received a favourable response. Most business operators at the growth point cannot afford to pay the new tariff rates. Council must be considerate and reduce the new rates,”said Chamwadoro.
Chivi Rural District Council chairperson, Godfrey Mukungunugwa said he will relook into the issue the businesspeople at the growth point are raising.
