Police in Masvingo have warned that they will raid all shebeens that have mushroomed in the city.
Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa told Hevoi FM News that the law enforcement agents will also descend on those who are opening beer selling outlets in Masvingo.
“Under the lockdown regulations, it is prohibited to operate bars, only bottle stores and retail outlets are allowed to sell beer and patrons consume alcohol not in the premises,”said Inspector Dhewa.
“Police will continue with the clamp down operation on those who were opening bars illegally during this period of Lockdown.Let us also take this opportunity to warn those who are also operating shebeens that the law will soon catch up with them and we would like to appeal to members of the public to give us a tip off on those who are selling beer in shebeens in Mucheke, Victoria Ranch and Rujeko suburbs,”Inspector Dhewa added.
