Villagers in Virira village in Chivi Central constituency are appealing to government to avail farming inputs so that they can be able to prepare for the farming season.
The villagers told Hevoi FM News that they are geared for the farming season but they want the farming inputs such as maize seed and fertilizer to be availed.
“We have tilled our land using the Pfumvudza type of farming but challenge we are now facing is that we have no farming inputs. We are hoping that the government will avail them soon especially maize seed and fertilizer,”said the farmers.
“We have heard that government last week launched the Presidential farming inputs scheme at Sipambi where farmers in the area were provided with farming inputs, we are also hoping that the scheme will also be done this side,”added another farmer.
The Presidential Input Scheme, which is the flagship of the Agriculture Recovery Plan, plans early input packages comprising seed, fertiliser, and fall armyworm pesticide for farming season.
