Chivi villagers have started preparations for the 2021 farming season but are crying foul over of lack of farming inputs.
Villagers say that the government should give them assistance of fertilizers and seeds on time as they fear that being given inputs late will leave them in the dangers of drought in case of too much rainfall.
“The rainy season has begun, we have started digging in our fields but we wish that the government assist us with inputs now so that we will not be affected very much if the rains become excessive said Luckson Shoko of Virira village.
Another villager bemoaned their poor soils and lack of input to their perennial poor harvests.
“Our soils are seriously affected by leaching as there are sandy, so if we can be assisted with fertilizers i think we can harvest better,” another villager who preferred anonymity told Hevoi FM News.Chivi district is in the arid region and faces perennial droughts.
