Masvingo city council kicks off 2022 budget consultations. BY REGIS CHINGAWO

Masvingo City Council has begun a process for budget consultations for 2022 with the consulations having begun yesterday.
According to the latest 2022 budget consultation report availed by the local authority, the biggest chunk of the budget will be allocated to the water augmentation phase two project where $350 million has been set aside and also $505 million will cater for servicing of stands.Other notable projects earmarked for 2022 budget include Mucheke Trunk Sewer project, new dump site at Cambria Farm after Victoria Ranch suburb, Rujeko pump station upgrading and Rujeko secondary school construction.
The water augmentation project is set to improve the water supply in a city whose population has ballooned to over 115 000 while the Mucheke Trunk Sewer project will link Rujeko and Mucheke suburb and minimize sewer bursts.
Masvingo City Council town clerk, Edward Mukaratirwa said it was imperative that residents and other stakeholders give their input in budget consultations.
“We are encouraging residents to give their input on budget consultations for next year’s budget,”engineer Mukaratirwa said in one of the residents associations media platforms.Yesterday the local authority held budget consultations at Mucheke Hall.
