Election fever has gripped Mwenezi East Constituency whose seat was left vacant following the death of Josibee Omar in 2020. The main rivals in the election set for 26 March will pit Master Makope of Zanu PF and Tendekai Mandizvidza of Citizens Coalition for Change (formerly MDC Alliance). Supporters from both camps who spoke to Hevoi FM News expressed confidence of victory. “This is the time that we have long since been waiting for. The wait has been too long. We have been like orphans for a very long time. (Mukanya) is going to resurrect us,”said Chengetai Maziture referring to Makope. “We are rest assured that as long as the political arena is even our Mandizvidza will be in parliament soon. That is undisputable. We have a gallant cadre who is ready to serve the constituency,” said Eddison Chivesi, our party. Citizens Coalition for Change Masvingo youth provincial spokesperson, Timothy Muswere said that it was important that all participants in the by-elections be given equal coverage by the media. “The greatest challenge that we have as of now is that of huge disparities that we have in media coverage whereby ZANU PF is given much more time than all the other parties,”said Muswere
