The 4th annual Lake October Festival is scheduled to take place on November 11-12. Held annually since 2018, the two day event aims to showcase the region’s rich heritage sites and boost tourism. The festival celebrates Masvingo’s unique cultural diversity, showcasing traditional dance performances, music and art.
Lake October Festival Public Relations Officer, Tavita Mpala says the event has become a significant driver of tourism in Masvingo, attracting thousands of visitors annually. The event provides a platform for local artists to showcase their talents, preserving the region’s cultural legacy.
‘The event highlights the regions iconic attractions including Great Zimbabwe World Heritage site, Lake Mutirikwi a stunning natural lake.The Festival has gained recognition and endorsement from the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority solidifying its importance in Zimbabwe tourism landscape’ said Mpala
Mpala added that the event aims to target more than 8 thousand tourists, creating opportunities for local businesses. The festival begins with Masvingo Golf Club, followed up by ‘Fill Up Masvingo’ concert
Artists such as Winky D, Gemma Griffiths, and Freeman among other artists will headline the Concert.
