An 18 year old man from one of the plots nearby the city of Masvingo this week appeared before the Masvingo Magistrates` Court judge Patience Madondo facing charges of allegedly raping an 11 year old juvenile from the same area. It is the state case that Josiah Chazireni would prey on the juvenile on her way back from school.
Prosecutor Liberty Hove told the court that sometime between September and 17 November this year the accused would chase the complainant, upon catching the complainant, the accused would trip her to the ground, mount on her and begin to rape her. The accused used the same modus operandi in sexually abusing the complainant on several occasions until police received a tip off that the complainant was being sexually abused by the accused. Police reacted to the tip off and went to the primary school where the complainant was interviewed and revealed the matter.
The complainant was then escorted to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where she was medically examined and a medical report was compiled.
