The holding of Masvingo agricultural show this year still hangs in the balance as the Masvingo show society still await for a go ahead from the government to open amid a surge in COVID 19 cases in the country, Masvingo Show Society chairperson Fadzai Jirivengwa told Hevoi FM News.
The rise in COVID 19 cases in the country saw all show activities being postponed
“As it stands we cannot confirm or deny the holding of Masvingo agricultural show this year, we are still waiting for a go ahead from the government (The national association of show societies), because most of the show dates were moved forward because of the global pandemic situation,” Said Jirivengwa.
Jirivengwa added that the Masvingo Agricultural Show was not spared from shifting dates for opening since the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) and the Harare Agricultural Show were also moved to later dates.
“All show societies including the ZITF which was supposed to be held in July, was shifted to the end of September, the Harare agricultural show was shifted to end of October and so our dates to open Masvingo Show will be shifted according to the advice that we are going to be given by the national association of show society because we are under government, so we cannot confirm or deny it will be held,” added Jirivengwa.
The Zimbabwe Agricultural Show Society (ZAS) recently announced that this year’s Zimbabwe Agricultural Show will be held on the 27th of September to 1 October with the official opening being on the 30th of September.
