Villagers in Sanangwe village in Chief Chikwanda in Masvingo fear a high disease outbreak following shortage of water in the area. Speaking to this reporter in an interview, one of the villagers, Joy Temba said that they are now living in fear of Typhoid, Cholera, Dysentery and COVID 19.

“We are getting our water from Mutirikwi. Cattle, donkeys, goats and all sorts of wild animals are often found drinking the same water with us. The water is muddy. We are afraid that water borne diseases might affect us in the village.”

Contacted for comment, Masvingo Rural District Chief Executive Martin Mubviro said that apparently there is a need for increasing the number of boreholes in the area.

“We are yet to increase the number of boreholes in the area. However as of now there is no official report made to us so far.”

A snap survey by Hevoi FM News has revealed that there is an adverse shortage of water in the area with utmost fear that school pupils at Sanangwe primary school might be affected.
