Masvingo residents are urging the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to increase the weekly withdrawal limits in view of the inflationary environment. Residents told Hevoi FM News that the currently $2000 bank withdrawals are not adequate to cater for their needs. “The current withdrawal limit is not adequate taking into consideration that our local currency is struggling to stay afloat against the US dollar. There is a need for the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to increase the weekly limit withdrawal,”said a resident. Other residents told Hevoi FM News that the $2 000 weekly limit needs to be increased. “We need to pay for school fees and pay for other necessities. There is a need for the RBZ to make a review,”said another resident. In February, last year RBZ Governor Dr John Mangudya, in his year-start monetary policy, capped cash withdrawal limits for individuals at $2 000 per week while mobile banking transactions were capped at $5 000 per transaction and an aggregate limit of $35 000 per week.
