A survey done by Consumer Council of Zimbabwe has revealed the monthly bread basket for a family of six now stands at $120 834.
Consumer Council of Zimbabwe regional manager for Masvingo province, Ndumiso Mgutshini told Hevoi FM News that this has been caused by the rise in inflation.
“From the survey we carried we discovered that as of 15 May, the bread basket for a family of six now stands at $120 834.This was as a result in price increase in commodities such as sugar, cooking oil, mealie-meal and bread,”said Mgutshini.
“We have also noted that some landlords have also increased rentals being charged in US dollars,”he said.
Government has announced the suspension of import duty on basic commodities for six months as part of measures to improve access to affordable goods.
