The Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council has expressed concern over the rise in teenage pregnancies cases in Masvingo province.
Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council, public relations and marketing officer for Masvingo province, Hebert Chikosi told Hevoi FM News that they have begun awareness campaigns in Zaka, Bikita and Chiredzi.
“We are very much concerned with the increase of teenage pregnancies in Zaka, Bikita, Chiredzi and Mwenezi,”said Chikosi.
“To mitigate against the problem, we are engaging the community in these districts training village health workers who are working with parents.It is sad to realize that the girl children are dropping from schools hence it is also important to continue activating the parent to child communication programme,”he added.Masvingo province has one of the most prevalent cases teenage pregnancies and child marriages in the country.
