Police in Masvingo are urging parents with children going back to school to guard their children against unscrupulous elements as schools open. Speaking in an interview with Hevoi FM News, Masvingo Zimbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa says parents should educate their children not to entertain strangers.
“There are thieves who have mastered a sophisticated art of befriending members of the public. They use sweet language to lure their prey. In most cases members of the public realises it only after they have been duped of their belongings,”said Inspector Dhewa.
Inspector Dhewa further warned parents against leaving their young children to walk alone when going to and from school.
“We encourage parents with children attending primary schools and kindergartens to escort their children to these institutions. It is also equally important that children move in groups for safety reasons.”
Yesterday it was a hectic day for parents as they took their children back to school.
