The National Blood Services Zimbabwe Masvingo provincial branch is facing a critical shortage of blood, Hevoi FM news can report.
National Blood Services Zimbabwe Masvingo blood donor coordinator, Michael Chakoma told Hevoi FM news that the situation is dire.
“We are facing an acute shortage of blood like any other branches across the country,”said Chakoma.
“The type of blood that is in short supply is the Blood group O.We are therefore failing to supply public hospitals in the province with adequate blood supplies,”he added.
Chakoma is appealing to residents in the province to donate blood so as to save lives.
“We are therefore appealing to residents in the province to come to our rescue and donate blood to save lives in our public hospitals,”he said.
National Blood Services Zimbabwe usually gets blood donations from students in schools but the program has been adversely affected by the lockdown as schools are yet to reopen.
