Chief Danda of Zaka district says measures have been in place to ensure that COVID 19 regulations are adhere to in his chiefdom.
Chief Danda says a committee has been formed to encourage religious congregates to be fully vaccinated before they open churches.
“We have put in place measures, ensuring that churches that have opened, have had their members fully vaccinated,”said Chief Ndanga.
“So far we have never had any problems as religious congregates are following government orders on vaccination policy,”he added.
Chief Danda told Hevoi FM News that a committee has also been formed to encourage the community not to gather at traditional beer jamborees.
“We know people in the community particularly men, want to gather at traditional beer gatherings. We have ensured that this stops forthwith but the problem we may encounter is that those who gather at traditional beer drinking gatherings can argue that since they are fully vaccinated, they must be allowed to gather like what their church counterparts are doing. We have however made it a policy to ensure that government regulations on gatherings are being adhered to,”he said.Government two weeks ago approved the reopening of churches but only for fully vaccinated congregants.
