The Zimbabwe Council of Churches has expressed concern saying Chiredzi companies are not employing local youths preferring outsiders.
Zimbabwe Council of Churches developmental officer for Chiredzi district, Reverend Hamutityi Sozayepi said local youths must be given first priority on employment.
“We have noticed that over the last years, youths in Chiredzi district apply for jobs but preference is given to youths from other provinces yet they would have higher qualifications,”said Reverend Sozayepi.
“This is very unfair and this must change as the youths end up taking drugs and alcohol. We are not saying that outsiders must not be employed in Chiredzi but we are saying that local youths must be given first preference,”he added.
The Zimbabwe Council of Churches last week held a workshop meant to deliberate problems facing the youths in the country.
