Garden cooperatives have proven helpful to the people of Mukaro in Gutu district as they are now earn a living out of vegetable and tomatoes production. This was confirmed by ward 26 Councilor in this area Alois Mazhandu today in an interview with Hevoi FM News.

“Most of the people here are benefiting out of vegetable and tomatoes production that is being done in this area. We got help from the Member of Parliament for this constituency.” Said Mazhandu referring to Pupurai Togarepi who is said to have provided the cooperatives with solar pumps and tanks to pave way for maximum production.

Apparently the constituency is having water challenges. Ward 26 constitutes Mukaro Business Centre, Hunduza Business Centre, Mukarati and Muzorori Business Centre. The government urges farmers to embark on projects that enable them to sustain better goals towards vision 2030.

Recently Masvingo provincial agronomist Sabina Chaduka told Hevoi FM News that the province has already started training farmers in crop production so as to get rid of poor harvest.

“Extension workers have so far been trained in tilling the land to come up with a maximum output on a very small space of land and we are looking forward to a bumper harvest.” Said Chaduka.
