Informal traders at Nyika Growth Point bus terminus are up in arms with the local authority over borehole water, which they allege is unsafe.
The informal traders told Hevoi FM News that a borehole was erected near a public ablution at the area.
“The water we are drinking from the borehole is unsafe…..it smells sewage.Council must provide tape water for we fear for our health,”said an informal trader.
Other informal traders accused the local authority of not making their health a priority.
“This borehole was erected near a toilet…..is that feasible? These council people are after taking our monies only,”said the vendors.
Bikita Rural District Council Chief executive officer, Peter Chibi told Hevoi FM News that Zimbabwe National Water Authority is responsible for the provision of water at the growth point.
