The majority of people in the rural communities of Sarahuru in Mwenezi North constituency have got every reason to smile and applaud the Government following the recent installation of an electricity transformer in the area courtesy of the tireless work by the Member of Parliament, Master Makope. More than 300 households from Dhuvai, Tsumele and Chitemere Villages as well as others in the area surrounding Sarahuru Township are set to benefit from the installation of this transformer which is expected to help in the pumping of water from Chedozvo dam into the ZINWA water tank that lies on the Sarahuru township hill. It is this pumped water that will be subsequently distributed to the more than 300 households nearby.
Speaking to this publication, Member of Parliament for Mwenezi North, Master Makope, said, “First and foremost, we thank the President of this country, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, for initiating and birthing these projects. It is not only the Sarahuru transformer that we got. We also received other transformers meant for Masogwe, Ruzogwe and Chomukamba schools, Chimbudzi Clinic as well as the Pikinini Jawanda Irrigation Scheme. Most of the villagers around these areas have been going through a torrid time due to lack of power utility that is crucial in pursuing various activities geared towards development. When these villagers brought their plight before me, I had no option apart from taking the issue with me to His Excellency, The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, who then intervened so that we are where we are today,” said Makope.
Makope who also doubles as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee for The Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation Science and Technology Development said that his desire is to see the majority of the schools in the district being registered as well as making use of the current innovation and technological mechanism in advancing their education, a move that is well calculated as it dovetails with The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s academic goal.
“It is also my target to make sure that most of the schools in the resettlement areas are registered so that investors don`t hesitate to offer aid towards construction and resuscitation of infrastructure. Also, Gwamatenga and Ruzogwe primary schools should get electrified by 2026,” said Makope.
Meanwhile 6 schools among those in the newly acquired resettlement areas have recently been registered.
