Thousands of ZANU PF Party leaders, relatives and other people from all walks of life gathered today at President Emmerson Mnangagwa`s Masvingo homestead for the commemoration and unveiling of the tombstone of his late grandson, Yasha Mafidi Mnangagwa.
Speaking during the occasion, President Mnangagwa, who charismatically adheres to the: Leaving no one behind mantra, reassured the esteemed guests and the nation in particular that no one will die of hunger. The President said that strong measures have already been taken so far to mitigate the adverse impact of the El Nino drought that has been exacerbated by climate change.
President Mnangagwa said both the Minister of finance, Professor Mthuli Ncube and the Minister of Agriculture, Dr Anxious Masuka are working tirelessly hard in order to get rid of this anomaly. The Ministry of finance is expected to provide funds geared towards the importation of food while the Ministry of Agriculture is expected to keep on providing solar powered boreholes. The Government is targeting to provide solar powered boreholes in each of the 35 000 villages across the country under the Village Business Units program.
Masvingo Minister of State and Devolution Affairs, Ezra Chadzamira, commended the President saying that having survived food poisoning and being the only survivor of the Crocodile Crew of 1960, he is a replica of the biblical Joshua who is taking the nation through to its land of destiny. Minister Chadzamira said that road rehabilitation, construction of dams and the subsequent introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold, which is the country`s own currency are some of the pointers of the success story.
