Vendors at Kelvin Majange road intersection want council to regularize their work. By Roseline Mutare
Vendors operating at Kelvin Majange road intersection in Runyararo West suburb in Masvingo are urging council to give them a greenlight to sell their wares so that they will be able to fully eke a living.
Vendors told Hevoi FM news that council can collect revenue from them, which can be used to upgrade their area.
“We are calling on council to regularize our area so that we can be able to operate fully without any fear of being arrested,”said a vendor who operates in the area.
“Council can also collect rentals from us which can be used to develop our market stalls…As you can see for yourself, we have no proper stalls and we are exposed to vagaries of the weather,” added another vendor.
According to council, the vendors are operating illegally as the area has no proper ablution facilities. The majority of residents in Masvingo are earning a living through buying and selling.
