Vendors who sell wares at undesignated points in Masvingo are crying foul following a crack down operation involving police and municipal police.
The vendors told Hevoi FM news that council must leave them to sell their wares so that they can be able to earn a living.
“We are not happy that on a daily basis, police chase us from Chitima market and from the Central Business District…they must just leave us as we are trying to earn a living,”said vendor.
Another added:
“I am a single mother, vending is the only way I can earn a living and fend for my family. At least council must allow us to sell, while we pay a dollar a day as rentals.”
During the past days, council with the assistance of police has been cracking down on illegal vendors.Council is on record saying those who need space to sell their wares must come to it’s offices, but vendors say the process is cumbersome.
