A survey done by the Community Working Group on Health in Masvingo province has revealed that women in rural areas lack access to enough information on government’s vaccination programme, Hevoi FM News can report.
Community Working Group on Health chairperson for Masvingo district, Entrance Takaidza told Hevoi FM News that:
“Information we have has revealed that women in rural areas are failing to access information on the vaccination programme. Sometimes they travel to clinics only to be informed that the COVID 19 jabs have been depleted, or that they cannot be vaccinated as they lack the necessary documentation. This affects them as they would left their daily chores hoping to be vaccinated.”
Takaidza said chiefs, councilors must be given the responsibility to give information on the vaccination programme.
“We are therefore calling on government to ensure that the local leadership in communities convey vaccination programmes to their subjects and also assist in demystifying the myth that the vaccine can have side effects,” she said.
A survey carried by Hevoi FM News has revealed that some people in rural communities in Masvingo province are failing to access vaccination as they live far away from rural health centers.
