The ZANU PF leadership in Masvingo has expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his continued support to the province’s youth, following the donation of seven motorbikes. Close to 80 motorbikes were given to all the youth in the country by President Mnangagwa as part of the Government’s youth empowerment initiatives on his birthday and subsequent launch of the Munhumutapa Day.
Robson Mavhenyengwa, ZANU PF’s Masvingo Provincial Chairperson, commended President Mnangagwa for prioritizing youth development and addressing critical social issues. “These motorbikes will play a crucial role in empowering our youth, especially in the fight against the growing drug problem that is threatening our communities. In addition, they will be used to reach out to the less privileged, helping them to access education,” Mavhenyengwa said.
The motorbikes are set to improve mobility for the youth leadership in the province, enabling them to implement outreach programs more effectively. The initiative aligns with the government’s broader goals of youth empowerment, education, and drug awareness.
Tichaona Mandebvu, the Masvingo Provincial Youth Leader, welcomed the donation, highlighting that the motorbikes will also assist the youth in launching income-generating projects amid the challenges posed by the ongoing El Niño-induced drought. “We are grateful for this generous gesture by His Excellency. These motorbikes will allow us to embark on various projects that will support young people, particularly as we face the economic challenges brought about by the drought,” Mandebvu said.
The motorbikes are expected to enhance communication and coordination among youth leaders in Masvingo, enabling them to mobilize resources and launch new initiatives aimed at addressing drug abuse, promoting education, and fostering entrepreneurship.
The fight against drug abuse has become a central issue for communities across Zimbabwe, with growing concern over the impact of substance abuse on young people. By equipping youth leaders with better mobility, the initiative is expected to improve the effectiveness of anti-drug campaigns and help vulnerable youth access much-needed support.
The Masvingo province, like many parts of Zimbabwe, is grappling with the effects of the El Niño-induced drought, which has strained resources and affected livelihoods. President Mnangagwa’s donation is seen as a crucial intervention, enabling youth leaders to continue working towards community development despite the challenges.
As the province prepares for more youth-led projects, ZANU PF leadership remains optimistic that the empowerment initiatives will have a lasting impact, not only on the fight against drugs but also on the overall development of Masvingo’s youth.
