Government continues to pursue its goal in holding women in high esteem through equipping them with survival skills that will take them a long way in earning a living not only in Zimbabwe but throughout the global village.
In order to fulfill this obligation, the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development has gone a step ahead in pioneering and championing this goal in Masvingo province. The recent renovation and expansion of the Maud Muzenda Skills Training Centre is an indicator that the government is walking the talk. New buildings have long since been erected for the purpose of imparting life skills to the majority of women in the province.
Formerly known as Roger Howman, Maud Muzenda Skills Training Centre was established in 1966 during the colonial era. The Maud Muzenda is expected to play a pivotal role in helping women to access, gain and exchange information as well as ideas that are essential in achieving the Vision 2030 goal.
Speaking after touring the training centre yesterday, the Minister of Women Affairs, Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Monica Mutsvangwa reiterated that the government is working hard to ensure that all women in the country realise their dream.
“This shows the importance which is put on women by the government of Zimbabwe. This training Centre is for women. It will go a long way to equip women with visionary ideas and relevant life skills in society. Every woman is expected to utilize this opportunity, whether it’s sewing, preparation of some detergents or whatever it is, women have to come here and get trained for six months so as to acquire a certificate in that particular discipline.” Said Mutsvangwa.
Yesterday the Minister also toured Masvingo Safe Market as part of her familiarization visit in the province before proceeding to Chiredzi for yet another women developmental project scheduled for Muteyo.
