Sekuru Martin Chadzamira burial set for tomorrow at his Mashava farm

The father of the Minister of State for Masvingo province, Ezra Chadzamira, Martin Chadzamira who passed away on Saturday at a private medical facility in Masvingo, will be laid to rest at his Mashava Farm near Muzhwi Dam tomorrow.


The deputy provincial chairperson for Zanu PF, Robson Mavhenyengwa has described the late Sekuru Chadzamira as war icon as he provided material assistance to ZANLA forces during the liberation struggle.
“It’s a huge loss to the country and Masvingo province as Sekuru Chadzamira provided food and other material assistance during the war of liberation.The province and the country at large is poorer with his passing on.He is the one who groomed our minister and provincial chairperson for Zanu PF (Ezra Chadzamira to what he is now,”said Mavhenyengwa.


Mavhenyengwa added that the provincial leadership for Zanu PF has requested that Sekuru Chadzamira be declared a liberation war hero.


“Due to his contribution to the war of liberation, the party has since requested that he be declared a liberation hero for his assistance he rendered during the liberation struggle,”said Mavhenyengwa.
Sekuru who was one of the first black businessmen in Mashava during the colonial era, was born in 1933.

Police Masvingo have arrested suspects who are implicated on the murder of a 33 year old man, Tafadzwa Chiumba who was found dead in Jazire area in Victoria Ranch suburb.
Chiumba was found dead near a borehole in the suburb on Friday morning.
Criminal activities have increased in the sprawling Victoria Ranch suburb amid calls by some residents on the need to open up a police station.Currently there is just a police base in the suburb with an estimated population of over 15 000.
“We are urging police to open up a police station in our area.The police base that was set up cannot cater given the number of residents,”said a resident of the suburb.
Another resident said:
“Cases of assaults and robbery occur on a daily basis and there is need for stakeholders that include the police to come up with a solution before the situation goes out of hand.”

A Harare man has appeared at Masvingo provincial magistrates Courts court after impersonating that he was a member of the Zimbabwe National Army.
According to the court, Richmore Chirombe (36) on 7 July, boarded a haulage truck that was going from Harare to Beitbridge.When the truck was stopped at a police road block at Nyanda just outside Masvingo, along the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway, Chirombe lied that he was a member of the Zimbabwe National Army based at Suri Suri base and furnished police details with a fake army identification card.Upon investigations, it was revealed that he was not a member of the ZNA, resulting in his arrest.Masvingo Magistrate remanded Chirombe in custody and the matter is set for trial this week.
